How do BMW owners in UK avoid bad used parts?
I am searching for reliable BMW used parts in the UK and honestly finding it harder than expected. There are so many sellers claiming their parts are original and tested, but reviews are mixed everywhere. At the moment the only company I know by name is MT Auto Parts, but I want to understand the broader market before committing.
My biggest worry is ending up with parts that fail after a few weeks. How do experienced buyers judge whether a seller is trustworthy? Do you rely more on customer feedback, warranties, or detailed photos of the actual part?
I am mainly interested in drivetrain and electronic components, so mistakes can be expensive. Are there specific BMW specialist breakers in the UK that are known for these categories? Or is it better to stick with large dismantlers who deal with multiple brands?
For anyone who has dealt with MT Auto Parts, did you receive exactly the part you ordered or a close substitute? How was the packaging and return process?
Also curious if people still physically visit scrapyards or if online buying has completely replaced that. What questions should I ask sellers before paying, especially when it comes to mileage, testing, and donor vehicle history?
